The Lightbringers

The Lightbringers' Quest

As written by Xenofos, based on his own experience

To the dark gates of Humakt's Hall strode Varanis Vingan
To save Prince Kallyr, to bring back spark of Sartar's Flame

Adressed the Swordsman Grim, spoke with voice of wind
Error was made, mine it is to correct now

Beyond dark gates of Underworld strode Varanis Vingan
There sent by sword sharp, to bring back deceased Yelm

Following the trail of golden gore to abyss descended the heroes
to the banks of river o'Swords, to Jeset's gloomy ferry place

Halt ye, and turn, for no man alive may pass the river black
Not men, but gods are we, argued glib Issaries Irillo

Over the the stream of blades was Varanis ferried
As Orlanth to hell, Lightbringers for company true

On shore rocky and sable beached the Ferry of Jeset
Onwards strode heroes, followed Yelms gory trail

Challenged by bellow and roar of Zorani were Lightbringers
Deathlord Drzank Backbreaker, master of shade and fire

Forth leaped the Fleshman, Salid, enlo stouthearted and true
Argan Argar inspired, spear carrier slayed the great Uz

Onward pushed the Lightbringers, deeper to silent lands wandered
To castle Obsidian, abode of Ezkankekko

With hospitality was greeted Orlanth, accepted with grace
Betrayed by Eurmal, Dormal, was Varanis' word

Enraged was Only Old One, to abyss cast the Lightbringers all amiss
Lost was Issaries , pathfinder of others all.

Chalana Arroy traversed dread plain in darkness alone
Mellia giving peace, to wound unhealable herself succumbed

In shadows tread Ginna Jar, Nala of Unicorns, through weird Earth
basked in mystery, captured by spiders' web

On path scaly climbed Xenofos, Lhankor Mhy, through desert wind
Passed gates of ivory, refused to understand the truth

With Eurmal together travelled bold Orlanth vexed and angry
made known his displeasure, forgiving the Trickster in the end

Approached the pair Cragspiders Castle leaden, dark abode of Uz
Well guarded were the gates, way barred for Varanis

Cast aside her doubts well founded Orlanth determined and true
Trickster as Uz clad, in shackles entered the lair.

Together descended they to the larders of Cragspiders castle lead
in shadows lay hidden, cast aside bars and locks all

Lightbringers they found bound all others but Fleshman not
For killed was Fleshman dead, sent by mace to Humakts hall

Silently and in stealth filed they from Great Trolls' castle
to dark plains beyond fled, pursued by Uz horde swift

To meet foetroll they turned, together with Humakt the grim
One hasty retreat beat, Zorak Zorani died

"Thou must not here be" addressed the grim Humakt
Vingan Swiftly struck with sword, to Sword Hall summoned her

Beneath the rafters of Swordhall Varanis Kallyr saw, a spark little cradling
Orlant to Yelm spake, adressed the Windlord Sun

"Error I made, amend that wrong I now want O Yelm
I seek your pardon, and more, friendship yours."

"Grave was the insult, grave mine injury, rash Windlord Orlanth
But thine descent here, sincerity in amend shows.

Pardon I will grant, extend my hand in friendship Orlanth
Seek no revenge dire, no ill will bear nor grudge hold."

Reconciled were Sun and Thunder, in amity embraced great gods
started the ascend, but halted, in doubt renewed

Ascertain we must that this will never repeated be
how can we that make, affirmation, surety gain

Arose from shadows Ginna Jar great gods addressing with Truth
Great oaths you must make, bound be by compromise great

Spoke words of power and truth great gods compromise to hold
cast her net Ginna Jar, binding time, securing vows

Arose Kallyr, in hand schorched holding spark of Sartar's flame
like Yelm ascending, reliving and radiant

Kallyr relit the Flame, looked on Varanis Vingan
Orlanth victorious, Saiciae, rose Esrolian
